Specific Objectives

enhance friendly relations between Nepal and the Netherlands

Arrange
meetings and exchange programs between Nepalese and Dutch professionals and
intellectuals in various fields of expertise

Create
environment to foster social, professional and business relations between
members and people of both countries by arranging social service programs,
seminars, training etc.

Arrange
programs to explore possibilities of assistance between Netherlands and Nepal
·
Provide
services such as dissemination of information, consultations and advice to
Nepalese going to the Netherlands

Create
database of Nepalese who have received education/training in the Netherlands,
arrange reunion programs and publish newsletters
Vision
NAAN will be a strong and influential group, with members assuming a
leadership role in the promotion of technological change and its
management in governments, universities, industries and other sectors, as
NAAN's main instrument in realizing its mission
Mission
To
create a unified body, develop mutual interest among the alumni, establish
mutually beneficial relations between the Institute and its alumni, and promote
the interests of the Institute and the fulfillment of its
Mission.

Coordinate and communicate with Dutch institutes for design of relevant short
coursers/trainings suitable for Nepal

Establish appropriate mechanisms to provide feedback to Dutch institutes on
image, relevance and excellence
- Promote cooperation and commitment of members
- Build a common bond among the alumni and a sense of pride in NAAN as one's alma
mater.
- Establish communication strategies between NAAN and other Netherlands Alumni

Activities
In order to achieve its goal and objectives, NAAN has designed a wide variety of
activities that will be carried out in the future.
1. Social /Service Programs
·
Organizing free cardiac clinic for the poor and the elderly. One free clinic was
organized in association with NORVIC-Escorts Health Care and Research Centre in
Dhapakhel VDC in July 2002.
·
Arranging consultative meetings for new students going to the Netherlands for
higher education. The main aim being, to assist/advice new students about
studying and living in the Netherlands
·
Formulating
proposals for possible technical activities in various parts of Nepal,
which could be undertaken in the form of community service by NAAN members and
faculty
·
Organizing support/advisory programs for prospective students who wish to study
in the Netherlands
·
Organizing cultural program on Her Majesty's Queen's birthday of the kingdom of
the Netherlands
·
Working
with the various agencies including the Kathmandu Metropolitan City in
maintaining public parks, traffic island and other environment conservation
activities
·
Organizing tree plantation programs
·
Organizing reunions and social get-to-gather programs so that alumni will have
the opportunity to interact with and share experiences with each other
·
Organizing emergency relief programs for the communities affected by natural
calamities (flood, earthquake etc.)
2 Academic programs

Updating and
disseminating the Alumni Directory on a regular basis
·
Publishing
achievements of distinguished alumni
·
Creating the
NAAN website
·
Publishing a
regular bulletin on news, events and future activities
·
Creating a
database of alumni by expertise for purposes of consultancy and business
contacts
·
Organizing
short refresher courses to satisfy the professional development needs of alumni
in association with institutes in the Netherlands such as IHE,
ITC etc.
·
Organizing
talk programs on professional subjects (topics will be decided as per
availability of information)
·
Organizing
workshops/seminars/interaction programs
·
Organizing
conferences on relevant issues
·
Establishing
a resource centre to provide information about different institutes in the Netherlands
and the available courses for prospective students
·
Assisting
graduates upon return to their countries
·
Building up
NAAN's relations with the business community through discussions with business
leaders, the creation of an Advisory Board with members from the business
community, and the holding of a regular Alumni Forum
